After A Glorious Outing,Opume ,Ogbia Equips Gov. Dickson For Electoral Battle

A memorable day 17/11/2015 of the Gov. Dickson's campaigns has come and gone but the memories will probably last for a long time. OPUME Kingdom,Ogbia LGA BAYELSA NIGERIA equipped Governor Dickson for the coming elections by symbolic wrapper tying ceremony at King Turners the Paramount ruler of Opume Kingdom to bring to a deserving finale another whistle stop campaign day through the remaining parts of communities in Ogbia LGA.

The campaign started off around about midday 17/11/2915 and and hit it off big at OTUASEGA ,where new faces emerged with the serving Senator of Ogbia- Nembe senatorial zone Mr Ben Murray-Bruce making an appearance and performing the traditional welcome dance with Governor Dickson amongst other Dignitaries.

The Train arrived Imiringi- Elebele Ward 10 Where the people led through the streets to reception ground singing and dancing merrily. They want government to complete the road into their town as soon as possible and wants him to return to complete his developmental strides. Governor Dickson always made it clear that he was not in Ogbia to campaign but to thank the people for always supporting PDP.

He wants the electorate to punish the other for working against Ijaw aspirations at the Presidential level through total rejection at the poll.The governor reminded the people that PDP gave them the Presidency and other party denied them that exalted position and cannot be allowed to humiliate the Ijaw man further in his home Bayelsa. He reintegrated that this election is not about him,what he has done or not but about the integrity and continued existence of Ijaw nation and its people.

"It is not about whether Gov Dickson gave or did not give you money but your future and that of your children is at stake here." Each voter is also contesting this election with me and so it is not about me but about you! He said that any vote for the opposition could make Ijaw heroes like Okilo and Adaka Boro turn in their graves for the Ijaw man has never been defeated and cannot now hand over their pride to outsiders who claim they have federal powers to decide how the only homogeneous Ijaw state is to be governed.

The message was more or less the same and met with a resounding declaration of rejection for the other party at the polls and to resist any attempt to rig the election through employment of fake security forces or compromised officials.

So the train moved on to Emeyal 2,then to Otakeme where the SSG Prof Allison-Oguru has his roots. At this time it was now carry go everywhere and the crowd was becoming more and more organic. Even communities not listed in the stop over took the nearby roads to express solidarity.

At OLOIBIRI Ward 10 we were vividly reminded of the sacrifice of this oil town to Nigeria and why diversification is important. The grand finale is the local Government rally at Ogbia where the Governor took time off to commission the IZON Micro finance bank Ltd after introductions by Patience Abah,the company's Head of Legal services. The train arrived the rally ground at dusk to see a large turn out.

With solidarity speeches completed,as usual party officials in an organised manner in line with protocols built up the crescendo until the Countriman governor stepped up the podium to thank the people for their patience . He invited prominent representatives of the people past and present to speak. The SSG, Prof Allison Oguru, Senator AMANGE, The only Female House of Reps member,King A. Turner,Obigbo Miki Miki, senator Ben Bruce amongst other.

Then he introduced his running mate Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah who also spoke to the people all urging them to turn out ENMASSE to cast their votes for PDP and to defend their votes using legal means . The Governor explained to them that this election was actually not a time for politics. Not a time to seek ones stomach.It is a time to define each persons identity,pride and future and those of his children with his PVCs.

Dinner was to be served at King A. Tuners home and then Heads of the Opume Ogbia communities decided each to equip Governor Dickson for the elections in their symbolic wrapper tying ceremony and after tying all the 6 wrappers you could imagine the weight on both the Governor and his deputy each however was to give more strength to carry on their big tasks.
