"We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." - Winston Churchill

Churchill as Prime Minister led Britain to war against Nazi Germany until victory was secured. His steadfast refusal to consider surrender helped inspire British resistance, especially during the difficult early days of the war when the British Commonwealth and Empire stood alone in its active opposition to Adolf Hitler. The story of Winston Churchill's offensive against Hitler, should be a fountain of inspiration for any Rivers man or woman who wants progress in Rivers State.

How can a state function when health workers, local government workers, secondary and primary school security staff, teachers and so many other members of the Rivers State work force have not been paid salaries for months. And we ask, why? We know that Barr. Nyesom Wike has so far received the sum of N144 billion as revenues accruable to Rivers State in the last five months. We are also in the know that only sketchy details of how a fraction of the said sum was expended is available to the public. And we ask again, why?

The present administration in Rivers State has spent five months doing nothing but dramatisation of deceit in the State. Does Wike believe in his heart of hearts that people are excited about his 'potholes filling drama? Does he not know that in this age of social media frenzy, information assimilation and dissemination, comes at the speed of light? The fact of the matter is that Rivers State is presently in shambles, and no amount of Nazi-styled hypnotical propaganda can completely render docile, the active spirit of Rivers people.

As things stand now, all is not well with Rivers State. Some schools have been shut down, unemployment is in its highest high, investors are on the run, refuse dumps are back on the streets of Port Harcourt and Its is not a matter of argument, just go out and see for yourself. As I write this piece, some parts of Rivers State have been completely enveloped by flood water. Security is out of the question, as citizens are kidnapped, robbed, and killed on a daily basis. Sincerely, life is hell here!

We must all rise up in defense of our dear State, the same way Winston Churchill, alongside his country men defended their territory against Nazi invasion. You might not be an indigene of Rivers State, but as long as you live here, work here, and you have your kids here, you are by this write up requested to join in the struggle to liberate Rivers State from the shackles of selfish, wicked, and rudderless leadership. Arise o compatriots, our State is dying under Wike!
