A frontline entrepreneur and political leader from Eket Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State, Elder Ben Udobia says no manipulation of the judiciary or coercion from any quarters can upturn the mandate freely given to Governor Udom Emmanuel by the people of the State.

Elder Udobia, who spoke with reporters at his country home in Esit Eket, frowned at insinuations that there was a calculated pressure by the ruling APC at the center to forcefully snatch the oil rich South South states from the Peoples Democratic Party.

He asserted that “the Nigerian constitution permits a multi-party system and no one in his right senses can compel people to adopt a one-party state structure.”

“I believe President Buhari is a seasoned politician and will allow the rule of law to take its course, especially knowing that Akwa Ibom and Rivers States are 100% PDP, I don’t see him doing anything to truncate the wishes of our people.”

The deputy Director General of the Udom Emmanuel campaign council also used the opportunity to express displeasure over the ruling of the governorship tribunal, saying it was unfair to order a re-run in such a credible election.

“Eventhough I am not a lawyer, I must confess that I align myself with the majority of the people of the state who see the judgement as unfair.”

Udobia, the Chief Executive officer of Eden Hotels and Benest Technical Services(BTS) a construction firm, said it was unfair for a tribunal to give a pass mark to all the House of Assembly elections held on April 11, while a contrary judgement is given on the governorship poll held same day.

In the face of all these, Udobia boasted that Governor Udom Emmanuel and the ruling PDP in Akwa Ibom State were not afraid of any re-election, saying that, “even if election is held 20 times, Governor Udom Emmanuel will emerge victorious 20 times.

“During the electioneering campaigns, we went to all the wards and local governments in the state to solicit for support, and we got 100% support from our people, and the tribunal could not fault that,” he said.

He called on all the people to continue supporting the administration to deliver tangible dividends, mostly in its industrialization drive and wealth creation.

“The governor is living up to his billing and more and more investors are arriving the state daily to generate a private driven economy through the establishment of industries, and our people need to cooperate with the government to sustain this drive,” he added.
