Zoning is a word you will for the first time encounter in The Essay, as the author for the purpose of this story developed a number of inflections and new words. When a Literature Facilitator asked his students for an essay, he had no idea the ruin he was about to unravel, a truth so dark it destroyed anyone who handle it carelessly.

The Author draws from her experience and anonymous contributions from teenagers around the country, through social media and in the community to reveal what we would all prefer is left under the rug, something she called zoning. Though she admits presenting the worst case scenario, she insists the reason for this is to prevent anyone from feigning ignorance on how far zoning can go, and how far it has indeed gone today. The story answers a lot of questions regarding the youths of these times; why one teenager would rise up on day and take the lives of others including himself. It explains in very simple dialogues why one man will get to the state where he takes pleasure in serially causing havoc of some form to others. It tells the story of the human mind; its neutrality and its default evil mode.

A YA novella set in Nigeria, it has been described as a ‘must read for every home’ by the author. It is packed with lessons for Parents, Guardians, Teachers, the Press and Young Adults. A book discussion with a random selection of Individuals from each of the above categories on the title, even before its official release, re-affirms the need for this book to reach every hand. If not for anything else, to understand what zoning is, how it happens and how it affects us.
