If Murdoch’s State of Mind is Racist Then Does He Have The Freedom To Be Racist?

In the sense of human psychology we will never know if Rupert Murdoch’s mind is filled with motives and feelings of racism but what is clear is that more than 40 years after the Loving vs. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967); a landmark civil rights decision that made interracial marriages to be legal in America, human products from these type of marriages still face racial insults from the types of Murdoch.

Truly we will never know all of Murdoch’s racial fantasies towards a man like Barack Obama the first sitting president of the United States of America who is a product of a Black African father and White American mother.

Murdoch, an 84 years old White man of Australian birth, and the billionaire founder of News Corp–parent company to Fox News, who was recently involved in interracial marriage with a Chinese woman posed on twitter racially insensitive words about the President of the United States of America.

In his tweet he noted "a real black President who can properly address the racial divide." He appears to be implying that Obama is not a 'real black President compared to a Black Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson.

Murdoch has since apologized to America, a common and regular practice in America’s racial history when issues like these come up.

We will never know if Murdoch is regulated by thoughts, emotions and the spirit of racial White supremacy but what is abundantly clear is he appears thrilled in talking about racial identity issues surrounding the President when a corporate success like him should be focusing on Obama’s policies and approach to governance.

What will make a man like Murdoch suggest that President Obama is not a "real black president"? Is Murdoch is racially dysfunctional?

What does he mean when he wrote, “What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide”?

How can he blame one black man for not properly addressing the racial divide, and at the same time he is racially dividing one black from another black man.

What does he mean when he wrote "Apologies? No offence meant. Personally find both men charming."

Does these utterances by Murdoch point to an aging man struggling with mixed feelings of insecurity, insincerity and hypocrisy, and as a man in a position of authority in the corporate world what type of message is he sending to youths of all ethnic and religious backgrounds who he see him as a model of corporate success?

Certainly being racist as some in the media have descried him in terms of his anti-Obama words is not illegal, but his word is markedly bigoted at least in terms of verbal communication with the world.

Murdoch’s racial thinking as it relates to persons of mixed race like Obama reminds us of why persons like Rachel Dolezal, a former chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, would choose to be identified as black even though she is a White Being.

Words like that of Murdoch reminds all of us of the long standing cultural habits and behaviors associated with racial history in America, as such a woman like Dolezal would rather deny her true racial identity and heritage, knowing all the historical racial marks that remains with it in terms of the personal and institutional damages done in the name of whiteness at least historically.

Murdoch does not share a heritage with Black people who were brought to America to serve as plantation slaves but Obama will forever share that heritage, so when Murdoch say these racially filled words he is talking about Blacks globally and he is doing it in a way that signal “talking down to black folks.”

Murdoch’s racial thinking about Obama will not end the act of racial politics in America but this man needs to be held accountable for how he’s not acting as a true elderly man who should be using his vast life and commercial experiences to draw positive connections between all of us irrespective of our cultural, ethnic or religious backgrounds.

Murdoch should be advised to visit various schools where youths between the ages of 11 and 18 are concentrated, and explain to them why he made these racially dishonest and absurd words, and teach them to stay away from racial, religious and personal stereotypes especially about nonwhites in America and elsewhere. Enough is enough.
