IPAC Passes Vote of Confidence on Gov Wike

The union of all Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registered political parties in Rivers State has passed a vote of confidence on the government of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and urged him to keep up the tempo.

Under the auspices of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), a body of all registered political parties, made their position known on Friday when they paid a courtesy visit to Governor Wike at Government House in Port Harcourt.

Led by IPAC’s Chairman in the State, Bro. Felix Obuah, the group said Governor Wike had performed creditably well within his first 100 days in office and deserved all the encomium being showered on him by the people of the State.

Bro. Obuah, who is also the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Governor Wike has convinced even critics that he meant well for the people.

The IPAC leader stated that the vote of confidence on Wike by 28 of the 29 registered political parties in the State was further informed by the Governor’s nonpartisan disposition in the projects so far executed in the State.

Obuah remarked that the Governor had so performed that members of IPAC had become speechless, adding that there was nothing to criticize about at the moment.

He said that majority of members of IPAC are opposing political parties, they were conventionally bound to criticize his administration, but that the Governor's achievement within so short a time has made that impossible.

Go Round, as he is popularly called urged the Governor to keep up his good works, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.

Bro. Obuah assured Governor Wike that IPAC would continue to support his administration, adding that no one would stop his government, which he described as ‘God ordained’.

Speaking in the same vein, the Vice Chairman of IPAC, Deacon Precious Enyi of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) lauded Governor Wike for putting smiles on the faces of Rivers people within his 100 days as Chief Executive, saying that Wike’s popularity was unparalleled in the annals of governance in the State.

The NNPP State Chairman said the Operation Zero Potholes project as well as the payment of salaries to civil servants were some of the milestones that spoke volume for Governor Wike.

Deacon Enyi told the Governor that IPAC leaders were people of integrity, which, according to him, explained why they boycotted the illegal Local Government Election that was conducted by outgone Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

The IPAC Vice Chairman appealed to the Governor to assist the body with a bus to ease their movement even as he also asked for an office space to enable them run the association.

In his response, Governor Nyesom Wike said he was delighted at the visit by the Chairmen of 28 political parties in the State, saying that the development showed that politicking was over in the State.

The Governor restated his avowed commitment to work with all the parties so as to move the state to the next level.

He said his administration would remain committed to the rule of law and promised to consider members of other political parties in future appointments even as he promised to consider IPAC’s request for a bus and an office space.
