BEVERLY HILLS, October 07, (THEWILL) – Foremost Ijaw leader and a former federal commissioner, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, says he has quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and partisan politics but would remain an elder statesman and father of all.

The politician also hailed his kinsman, former President Goodluck Jonathan for his stewardship but added that he lacked the will and power to fight corruption because he kept corrupt people close, describing him as a “gentleman.”

Chief Clark, who spoke Wednesday in Abuja when a group, Think Nigeria First Initiative, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence, reiterated his support for the anti-corruption effort of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I will support the policies that are for the good of the country because Nigeria belongs to all of us. We are all to support him, particularly in his determination to eradicate corruption in Nigeria. For eight years Obasanjo legalised corruption, yet, he's the one talking about corruption.

“Jonathan didn't have the political will-power to fight corruption. He's too much of a gentleman. Jonathan meant well for this country, but the will power to fight corruption was not there,” he said.

Chief Clark was a staunch supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan who failed in his re-election bid.
