BEVERLY HILLS, September 23, (THEWILL) – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odige-Oyegun, Wednesday said a new date would be announced for the conduct of a fresh governorship primary in Bayelsa State after Tuesday's botched exercise.

Chief Oyegun, who confirmed that Tuesday's primary was aborted due to “security challenges”, said in a text message that a new date would be communicated for a fresh primary.

Also, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Timi Frank, told journalists that a fresh primary would be conducted.

Edo State Governor and chairman of the election panel, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole in a briefing in Benin City Wednesday, said the panel could not conduct the election because of security issues and blamed the police for compromising the exercise. He also accused Sylva and the APC state executive for frustrating the vote.
