'I'll never be a true scorer like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi:' Chelsea star, Eden Hazard

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has admitted that he will never score ’50 or 60 goals’ in a season like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi manage – but that he can still get better.

The Belgian has been compared as the next man in line to challenge the supremacy of the Real Madrid and Barcelona rivals, and was the runaway winner of the PFA Player of the Year award last season as the Blues won the Premier League.

But the 24-year-old has struggled at the start of this season and is yet to score as Jose Mourinho’s side picking up just four points in their opening four matches.

In fact he has just one goal in his last 10 Premier League matches stretching back to the decisive 1-0 victory against March on 18 April, the winner against Crystal Palace on the day Chelsea confirmed they had won the title – and even that came when he headed in a rebound from a missed penalty.

“I often ask myself what I can do to become like Messi and Ronaldo and score 50 or 60 goals in a season,” Hazard told Sport/Foot Magazine.

“I try of course but I realise that I will never be a true scorer. It’s not in me. It is mainly mental – at 2-0, not thinking that is enough, for example. Sometimes I still think, after a goal, ‘that’s enough’.

“I’m not in search of records like some other players… if I can score between 15 and 20 goals each season, I will be very happy.

“I’m at a peak of my career but I want to become even better every day. I’m not there yet.”
