SDG: Tarikul Islam Prioritized To Reduce Sound Pollution In Bangladesh For A Resilient City!

Yesterday at September 1, 2015, Preso TV broadcasted a presentation on portfolio of Mr. Syed Tarikul Islam who is a socioeconomic development worker in Bangladesh. It has been cited that Preso TV is a unique documentary broadcasting media in presentation mode was created by Decos Dotcom and the team is based in The Netherlands and India.

Mr. Tarikul Islam is Executive Director of Alliance for Cooperation and Legal Aid Bangladesh (ACLAB) that is one of leading non-government organizations (NGO) in Bangladesh have been playing important role on several socio-economical development sectors. Mr. Tarik is also Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Community Radio Naf 99.2 FM.

Mr. Tarikul Islam is a MDGs & SDGs’ worker, he is a Community Media Initiator and after all he is a Master Trainer in the Development field in Bangladesh.

Tarikul Islam was born in a notable Muslim family in Bishnopur, BLK village in Shailkupa Upazila under Jhenaidah district in Bangladesh in 1964. His father Late Ismail Hossain was a school teacher and mother Late Rahima Khatun was a house wife. He had been engaging in Scout, Red Cross, Community Club and many others social activities as an organizer and a volunteer since his childhood.

He obtained Bachelor of Commerce in Management Studies and Master’s of Commerce in Management Studies from Rajshahi University in 1987 and 1989 respectively. He started his professional career in Management Information System (MIS) unit under Directorate of Family Planning of Bangladesh Government as a Master Trainer in 1991.

In 1992 he was worked as a Field Officer with Global 2000, Research on Nutrition in Bangladesh, an organization of Honorable Jimmy Carter the 39th President of the United States,

In 1993, he created to Concerned for Environmental Development and Research (CEDAR) with his few university friends and worked here as Program Coordinator, wherever he worked for project research, implementation, management, coordination, networking, advocacy, and project development. He worked for those with different national and international level professional bodies and donor agencies and as well Bangladesh Government too.

He connected to ACLAB since 1999 and officially he joined to ACLAB as Executive Director in 2001. With ACLAB he has been working on different fields that focus areas are health, nutrition, human rights, community radio, education, vocational education & development training, poverty reduction, capacity building and research on those. He also visited many countries and participated into many international conference, meeting, and short training courses. He is also working as Board Member, General Member and Executive Body to various national and international bodies, as like Sishu Odhikar Forum, The Union, WACC, CIVICUS International, ADAB, Child Rights Forum, Bangladesh Human Rights Council, HIV/AIDS STD Network in Bangladesh, Anti-poverty platform, CSA for SUN BD, Early Childhood Network, Bangladesh Community Radio Association, Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) and etc.

Mr. Tarikul Islam is a teacher and a master trainer in the development sectors of Bangladesh for he has lots of experiences on those sectors in the country and abroad. He knows how to build capacity and leadership, and how to build an ideal professional for the development sector. Many a high professional and volunteer are engaging in Bangladesh and abroad was trained through his hand and participation. He has experience on field level work and national policy level along with dialog making in the midst of the government and international development agency.

Mr. Tarikul Islam happily married to Selima Sultana in 1998 and blessed with a son Namir Fayaz and a daughter Lusbia Rayda Arra. His wife Selima Sultana graduated on Geography from Dhaka University and now working for Save the Children.

Mr. Islam participated into many international meeting, conference and programs on different local, national and international issues wherever he presented here articles, researches, abstracts and power point presentation that appeared to publication. His notable foreign visits are as follow:

1. ICAAP Conference in Sri Lanka,
2. CIVICUS International Assembly in UK,
3. Leadership Training in Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA,

4. World No Tobacco Conference in Spain,
5. AMARC World Community Radio Conference in South Korea,

6. Child Rights and Protection regional conference in Nepal and India,

7. WACC Assembly in Philippine,
8. International Social Forum Conference in Pakistan,

9. South Asia Regional Conference on Tobacco Control program in Thailand,

10. Professional Exchange Visit to Thailand in 2015 for 4 years Project in South Asian Countries support by FK Norway and ACLAB is playing vital role as Coordinator partner in this region.

Mr. Islam’s organization ACLAB was founded in 1987 and first registered by the Social Welfare Division of Bangladesh Government in 1988 and NGO Affairs Bureau under Prime Minister Office in 2006. In 2013, ACLAB registered under Department of International Cooperation and Development, of European Commission; 2015 registered under USA Federal Government and NATO Codification Tools of NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).

Mr. Islam has well expertise on HIV/AIDS and STD to provide advice, training and project implementation in Bangladesh as well the south Asian Countries. So the Preso TV focused his portfolio on HIV programs during his full career span.

“I prioritized resilient city for inclusive and safe human settlements, combat climate change & sound pollution, ensure healthy life, food security through end poverty and hunger, education and sustainable development in everywhere with a global partnership — in my future plan of activities with my organization ACLAB.” Mr. Tarikul Islam informed to The Nigerian Voice in a question that what is Mr. Islam’s future planning at the Post—2015 Development Agenda – SDGs – the world’s new master plans?

2015, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) during the Rio+20 Conference of United Nations. Every country merges their development activities with the United Nations Development Agenda.
