Kelechi's Death Is A Sad Reminder Of The Sorry State Of Upth

By The Patriots Alliance

The Patriots Alliance wish to condole with the family and colleagues of Kelechi Ndulagwa - a 200 Level Theatre Arts Student of the University of Portharcourt, who died in the early hours of this morning due to crass negligence by the management and staff of UPTH.

We also join the students of Uniport in their peaceful protest against this avoidable death of their colleague, Friend, and relative.

According to confirmed reports, the deceased was rushed to the hospital by her friends after she slumped down in her bathroom, only to be told by some lousy nurses that there was no bed space for her at the Emergency Unit. Her friends begged, cried and screamed, but the ego bloated nurses looked away until the last breath of oxygen left the lungs of Kelechi. She died like a refugee in her State, in her own country. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.

In view of the foregoing, we call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, to as a matter of urgency review the composition of management and staff of UPTH. We strongly recommend the immediate sack of those nurses who were involved in this negligent murder. The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Aaron Ojile, should also be queried for his roles in the "God forsaken State" of the Federal Medical Institution.

Finally, we wish to state clearly that every medical worker in Nigeria must understand that we now live in a different era where laxity and wickedness will not go unchecked and unpunished. Therefore, we call on the Nigerian Police Force to commence investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of this young and promising Nigerian and prosecute offenders. Let it be known that the days of toying with the lives of Nigerians on the pedestal of an irresponsible medical health system is long gone with the advent of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Long live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!
