Senator Saraki said"we are committed not only in talking but also in action,we are here to assess the problem this mis guided elements called Boko Haram have unleashed on the populace and to report back to the senate.

The Senate,he hinted will do all within its capacity to promulgate laws that will attract more funding to the states that have been ravaged by the Boko haram elements

The senate President lamented that, "though there's no quick solution, will do our best possible to provide needed legislation that will enhance speedy reconstruction of destroyed properties and restore peace and normalcy".

He was accompanied on the tour by seven senators including the senate leader, sen. Muhammad Ali Ndume.

Responding, Governor Kashim Shettima, described the visit as first of its kind since the advent of democracy in 1999 and a singular honour to government and people of Borno.

He said the visit was a clear demonstration of the sincerity of the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and placed on record as unprecedented and commended the Senate leadership for such an August visit.

Governor Shettima recalled that the dastardly acts begun in 2009 which had resulted to loss of several lives of both children and women as well as making several others orphans and widows just as many more are refugees in their father land.

He added that there are 26 IDPs in Maiduguri alone in which 20 Local Government Areas were taken over by the insurgents hinted that almost all the headquarters have now been reclaimed by the military.

Shettima further commended the zeal so far exhibited by President Buhari who has stood by them at this critical moment unlike President Jonathan, who he said, did not give them such attention.

He used the occasion to appeal to the senate leadership to enact a bill for the creation of North East commission just like the Niger Delta commission to ameliorate their suffering.

Highlights of the occasion was the donation of #10million by the Senate president ,Dr Saraki, visitation to some IDP camps and homage on the Shehu of Borno.
