Again, Boko Haram Sets Buratai, COAS's Hometown, On Fire, Kills 2

BEVERLY HILLS, July 22, (THEWILL) – Dare-devil Boko Haram insurgents again called the bluff of the newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, as they stormed once again his hometown, Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, Tuesday, killing two persons and setting almost the houses in the town on fire.

The houses set ablaze during the raid included that of the COAS and that of the former Borno state commissioner of education, Barrister Isa Buratai.

Local sources said the insurgents stormed the town at about 3:30am on Tuesday,shooting sporadically, killing two persons the process and setting most of the houses that were still standing ablaze.

The insurgents had earlier attacked the town during which they burnt down many houses.

A resident of Maiduguri, Abubakar Yusuf, who hails from Buratai, said Wednesday that he received a call from one of his brothers who fled Buratai, that terrorists have attacked their home town in the early hours of Tuesday, killing two persons and burning down the whole village including the houses of the Chief of Army Staff and a former commissioner in Borno state, Barrister Isa Buratai.

Confirming the attack, he said: “It is true they attacked Buratai, I received a call from my brother early this morning informing me that the insurgents have again invaded our home town and kill two persons before razing the remaining structures in the town including that of COAS and Hon Buratai.”
