Senator Abdul' Aziz Nyako in Court: Nothing will distract me from my responsibilities

By Tom Garba Yola

Senator Abdul'Aziz Nyako of Adamawa Central Senatorial District, has declared that nothing will deter or distract him from his responsibilities to the people of the district in spite of the charges leveled against him at the Federal High court in Abuja.

Abdul' Aziz was along with his his father,Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako,(rtd) the former Governor of Adamawa State dragged to a federal high court in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,but granted bail by the court. He appealed to members of the district to be calm as he would get justice at the end as he has faith in the judiciary.

The senator, who interacted with newsmen in Yola shortly after playing host to some groups that paid him solidarity visit, declared that he was calmer that the case was now in court against mere arrest by the EFCC without charges which had informed him to have dragged the EFCC to court twice to demand charges against him and the father.

According to him,he has designed seven solid programmes for members of his constituency ,intended to change the social status of the people, including empowerment of children and youths, fight against drug abuse, restoration of the Special Projects Programme Unit ,SPPU,earlier initiated and carried out during the tenure of his father.

He said the case has made him to be more determined to serve his people better than before ,appealing to them not to be perturbed because of the news of his arrest by the EFCC and subsequently dragging him to court.

" We have come to the court of justice. We are grateful to God that we have arrived at a point where we are going to get justice. Our minds are calmer now that we are in court" he said

"Anytime you are in court you are out of the EFCC net.As a matter of fact I had been silent about it.I took the EFCC to court twice before they took us to court telling the court to compel them to bring our charges rather than waiting for them to call us at their own time."

"So we are really delighted that we have found ourselves in court. We pray that the Almighty God will vindicate us of our innocence of the charges Isha Allah."

Adding, that the greatest disservice that one could do to his people is not to concentrate on the duties and responsibilities to them as they had struggled hard for him to be their senator and would not the current court case to distract him from his responsibilities.
