WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN WHEN NIGERIAN LEGISLATORS RETURN TO WORK?

Source: thewillnigeria.com

In about a week, both the Nigerian Senate and House will return to work. What do you think will happen?

The background first. After the elections of the senators and house representatives, the legislatures were legally and constitutionally called to begin the 8th Congress on June 9th. A significant number of APC legislatures were by design or default redirected elsewhere by their leadership and thus were unable to show up for the inauguration and for congressional leadership elections. The Rump Parliament duly constituted elected members present to high offices. Let us call this set of legislatures the Peoples' Legislators because they were attending to the peoples' business. The misdirected APC Legislators (so called because they went to attend to APC business) came back and were very furious but not furious enough to reject being sworn in by the leadership elected by the Peoples' Legislators and by that acceptance affirmed the decisions of the Rump Parliament. When parliament re-opened the next day the anger has become more intense, so much so that fist fights began on the floor of the House. Punches were thrown by grown men and returned and an attempt to steal the Speaker's Gavel was made but unsuccessfully. Both the Senate and the House were quickly adjourned, possibly for tempers to cool off. And possibly for horse trading to be done.

The controversial leadership is made up of Senators Saraki and Ekweremadu, and Speaker Yakubu Dogora. What do you think will happen next week? Answer truthfully:

  1. Tempers having cooled off the Rump Legislators choice of Leadership would be revised and Gbajabiamila would replace Dogora as the Speaker and George Akume would replace Bukola Saraki as the Senate President, and Ekweremadu would be thrown out.
  2. The People's Legislators will again defeat the APC Legislators and retain Saraki, Ekweremadu and Dogora at their leadership positions and even consolidate power
  3. The Legislatures would be again unable to hold a session as the fighting would continue from where it left off and would be adjourned perhaps sine die.
  4. The Sole Administrator of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari will submit his ministers to the Senate and will be confirmed by Senate a or b above immediately
  5. Because the legislature is adjourned PMB will hold back his appointments and continue as the Sole Administrator.
  6. Two new political parties would emerge consisting of Asiwaju of Yoruba land, Bola Tinubu's faction of APC (the majority of APC) faction and the other party would be a new party made up of what is left of PDP and CDC but not recognized by INEC yet. This new party would hold a single number majority in both Houses.

As for me I think the answer is item c above
You be the judge.
