DAKUKU MUST HIDE HIS FACE IN SHAME

That desperation could drive defeated Rivers State APC Governorship Candidate, Mr Dakuku Peterside to engage in treasonable felony capable of inciting violence in the state speaks volumes as to why the people resoundingly rejected him on April 11, 2015.

It was shocking that the defeated governorship candidate on Monday took to a live radio programme to fabricate a nauseating lie claiming that the National Industrial Court in Yenagoa had reinstated the sacked council chairmen of Rivers State. He claimed that the court had set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

This unprovoked falsehood from Dakuku Peterside was immediately echoed across the country by Channels Television, a very willing ally. In minutes, the Dakuku Peterside fabricated falsehood went viral online.

Dakuku’s intention was sinister. He planned with the entire APC media framework to create crisis in Rivers State. They had plotted to incite their few supporters to rush to the respective council secretariats where the caretaker committees were resuming for their first day in office, hoping that the PDP supporters would resist. All they anticipated was bloodletting.

Dakuku Peterside came to town after recovering from his massive political defeat with an intent to hurt Rivers State. He had started with an ill – fated press conference where he among other things attempted to lie about the projects of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in the state. For instance, he lied that Julius Berger and CCECC where not walking in the state. Those who reside in the state see Julius Berger back on the streets left unattended by former Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

For those who know Dakuku well, truth is not one of his strong points. At the heat of the campaigns, sensing defeat after Wike presented his blueprint, Dakuku Peterside cried that his own blueprint had been copied. He threatened to drag Wike to court for plagiarism. When the Wike's blueprint team dared to meet him in court, he chickened out.

After the Dakuku Peterside fabricated falsehood on the National Industrial Court proceedings of Monday, July 13, 2015, it is imperative to state here that the sacked council chairmen who benefited from an illegal election, remain sacked.

Justice Agbado-Fishim of the National Industrial Court declared : “I have listened to the arguments of all counsels for the parties in this matter. I am of the view that there is need to allow all parties to file the necessary processes and put all relevant exhibits to support their applications as well as to react appropriately.

“Therefore by the agreement of all counsels in this matter, this case is adjourned to 06/10/2015 for definite hearing of all pending applications”.

The above was the summation of what happened before Dakuku’s fertile imagination took the better of him. It is surprising that Dakuku is yet to take his place among his colleagues in Nollywood.

It is disheartening that Dakuku Peterside only sees Rivers State as his source to power and influence and not a community where the people deserve peace, development and good governance. Otherwise, Dakuku Peterside wouldn’t have returned to beat the drums of war.

But as the songster usually asked during Wike's campaigns, how many dem dey, why no go win dem? It is yet to dawn on Channels Television and the media propagandists of APC that their party does not exist in Rivers State. No matter the propaganda, Rivers State is pro-PDP and pro-Wike. The inordinate desire to promote falsehood has blinded these media agencies and they can no longer do the various basic checks on reports.

But for Dakuku Peterside, he must realise that his new found boldness premised on his belief that he can rely on the powers that be to protect him as he attempts to unleash falsehood will be shortlived. He must be advised to recall how he relied on his political godfather, Rotimi Amaechi to make him Governor and how Amaechi's blatant attempt to rig was thwarted by the people.

Wike is a man of the people. A man who lives and interacts with the ordinary man. An epitome of grassroots politics and the grandmaster of galvanising the people to promote worthy causes, Wike cannot be undone by cheap beer parlour lies. If lies were enough, Dakuku would have won.

Dakuku should hide his head in shame. Once again, he has failed woefully. The people of Rivers State are beginning to enjoy good governance and they will never return to the dark days of the APC.
