Nullification Of APC LG Council Chairmen Election

Rivers PDP Calls For Arrest Of Chris Fynebone, Others Over Inciting Comments

By Jerry Needam

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, calls for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Chris Fynebone, over his inciting comments and call on his party supporters not to respect the High Court judgment sacking the 22 illegally elected APC Local Government Council Chairmen in the State.

The PDP notes with grave concern the continues disregard and unruly conducts and utterances coming from Mr. Fynebone in the name of politics, saying his comments on the High Court judgment nullifying the May 23 supposedly conducted Council Election was capable of causing serious crisis and anarchy in the State that is making serious commitments in improving on the fragile peace currently experienced by the residents.

The Party believes that the moment a judgment has been given in any matter by a competent Court of justice, such judgment becomes a law and everyone ought to obey it accordingly, expressing disappointment that leaders of the APC, a party that claims to represent change won’t behave responsibly and obey sound judgment of a competent Court of law. This is one act of rascality, criminal disposition and revolution against the State, and should not be tolerated by the institutions of law and security agencies. Otherwise, the ensuing effect will be insurmountable to contend with.

It is an indisputable fact that the nullification of the APC illegally conducted council election came not from the PDP or the Executive Governor of the State; neither did it come from the State Assembly, but from the Court of Law of competent jurisdiction. So, Mr.Fynebone and his APC folks should know that any action taken otherwise would attract the full wrath of the law.

Clearly, calling on members of the APC and the sacked ‘chairmen’ to disobey the court judgment and resist any attempt to remove them from office is a call for anarchy, breach of public peace, and amount to contempt of court, which legally attracts corresponding punishment by the State.

It is therefore, in the light of the above that we call on the Police, the State Security Service and other relevant security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute Mr. Chris Fynbone and any of the sacked APC ‘chairmen’, as well as other supporters of the APC, who disobeys the credible and commendable judgment by the eminent Honorable Justice Akambi of the Port Harcourt Federal High Court.

We believe that the security agencies cannot claim ignorant of the potential threat Mr. Fynbone’s statement poses to the peace of the State. We would therefore, expect that appropriate actions be taken urgently in that regard to serve as deterrent to others and for the protection of the law of the State.
