Police Counters PDP, Says No Plan To Arrest Ekweremadu

BEVERLY HILLS, July 05, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Police Force has debunked claims by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it plans to arrest the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, over allegations of forgery and doctoring of the Senate Rule.

In multiple tweets late Sunday, Mr. Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, said, “A Senator sent petition to the police alleging unauthorized substitution of Senate document & matter was referred for investigation. In line with policy of gathering evidence before invitation, a letter was sent to Clerk of NASS to FACILITATE A MEETING of some principal members/Clerk with our team at THEIR CONVENIENT TIME & VENUE. No plans to arrest DSP, NPF have healthy respect for democratic values.”
