Unknown Gunmen Kill Prominent Politician/Businessman In Northern Nigeria

BEVERLY HILLS, July 04, (THEWILL) – Gunmen have shot and killed Alhaji Ibrahim Lemi, 68, a prominent businessman and politician in Kebbi State, northwest Nigeria.

Lemi was killed late Friday night inside his Aliero Local Government Area home by six masked gunmen who forced their way into his compound and overpowered his security guard.

The murder occurred at about 8.30pm.
The guard told journalists that the men came in motorcycles and fled after the killing.

A close associate of the deceased, Alhaji Buhari Mohammed, the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, described the incident as a set-back to business activities in Aliero.

Spokesman of the state police command, Mr. Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, but said no arrest had been made.

Lemi, who is survived by three wives and 22 children, has been buried according to Islamic tradition.
