Statement by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini in support of the UN-led talks for Libya

BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, June 30, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The Libyan representatives taking part in the UN-led talks in Morocco hold the future of their country in their hands.

It is time for all the Libyan parties to show their people that they are ready to unite to build a common future for their country.

The political agreement presented by the UN is a good compromise for Libya which meets the expectations of the Libyan people and secures the unity of the country. I therefore hope that the final agreement presented by the UNSRSG Bernardino León will be accepted by all parties in the coming days.

The EU has been and will continue to be a strong and consistent supporter of the UNSRSG Léon and commends him for his work. We have facilitated this process as much as possible and we remain committed to supporting a government of national unity and providing all the necessary support to the reconstruction, stability and development of Libya.
