The sojourn of Iyom Uche Ekwunife in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District may be short-lived following the sudden turn of events at the Anambra Election Petition Tribunal holding in Awka. In a surprise move, the man who was initially returned by INEC as winner in the House of Representatives for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Eze of PDP conceded defeat to Mr. Dozie nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Dr Eze and his party PDP accepted that Mr. Nwankwo is the real winner in the election based on the computation of total results collated at the respective Polling Booths in the constituency and should have been declared winner. The dramatic turn of event was said to have surprised the Head of the Tribunal, Justice Nayal Aganaba who reportedly expressed shock at the development.

Iyom Uche Ekwunife, who was declared winner of the Senate seat on the same platform with the PDP candidate is said to be in panic mode. She is said to be making frantic efforts to avoid the embarrassment of being caught-out in the same manner like Dr. Eze who replaced her in the House of Reps. Iyom Ekwunife who contested against Chief Victor Umeh of APGA is also a beneficiary of the the outcome of the last National Assembly Elections in Anambra State where she was declared winner against popular expectations alongside other PDP candidates in the State.

Also in another bad twist for the green horn Senator, the case of Iyom Uche Ekwunife is said not to progressing according to the desired script following revelations of blatant discrepancies in the certified true copy of the Election Results with which INEC declared her winner. Informed sources confirm that actual computation showed that instead of being declared winner that Chief Umeh of APGA is the glaring winner based on INEC records and stand a very good chance of getting the result over-turned.

It would be recalled that APGA had maintained that her candidates in the National Assembly Elections were robbed of deserved victory at the collation stage in the last elections.
