SAN FRANCISCO, June 26, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen from the 36 states of the federation Friday expressed displeasure at recent happenings in the National Assembly.

The chairmen met in Abuja to review the current leadership challenges facing the National Assembly where the party holds the majority in both chambers.

In a communiqué signed by Alhaji Umar Mohammed, the Acting Chairman of the APC state Chairmen Forum, after a two-day meeting which began on Thursday, the chairmen reaffirmed their belief and loyalty to the party's supremacy as contained in its constitution.

THEWILL recalls that there was a free-for-all in the lower chamber of the National Assembly over the choice of principal officers forcing an adjournment of plenary till July 21.

“As direct grassroots leaders, we are concerned about the development and therefore, reaffirm our belief and loyalty to APC’s supremacy as contained in the party’s constitution and decision of its leadership.

“We are also not happy with recent developments in the National Assembly, especially the lower chamber, and call on the party leadership to put in place proper machineries to checkmate further occurrences.

“We also call on party leaders to use the long break with a view to resolving the matter; so that the much needed change will be seen and enjoyed by everybody,” the communiqué urged.

The forum is expected to reconvene in Abuja next week.
