Niger: Gov. Sani Bello, Please Not Again

Abubakar Sani Bello is synonymous with "A new beginning. And things will change" and with all optimism, you will make Niger Great. Sir, you just recently flagged off 'Operation Zero Potholes Within 100 Days' as the Executive Governor of Niger. This Pothole project is to patch up roads in Major cities of our Dear State. Brilliant Initiative, brilliant, I tell you. This same project will as well add to Niger's Economic value because the major material for its execution, Cold Asphalt Technology is made in Niger.

Your Excellency, trust me, your administration is not about 'Yes Sir Congress' all the way and Sycophancy, it should be about Critical Loyalist and the basis for reality and that is because 'Failure' is not an option before Nigerlites, those that sacrificed their comfort on campaign tour and also those that took the risk of believing in your Manifesto. Sir, you have to disappoint the opposition party, PDP, by doing what they should have done perfectly in 16years, do it in 4years in Niger.

Failure ? You can't, Why Should you ? When in your inaugural address “REPOSITIONING THE STATE FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT", you stated that, "I must hasten to remind us that governance is a serious business and a collective responsibility. We must be ready to make sacrifices and to collectively resolve to have positive attitudinal change if we are to realize the dream of a new Niger State full of hope and a better future".

Your Excellency, you further assured Nigerlites that in this crusade of repositioning the state we will lead by example to serve as a guide to all. So, if "We must lead by example", then this project of patching up sub-standard roads cannot be that example.

Your Excellency, the big question is, do we need 'Patch-Patch' rework of Sub-Standard road network ? Why not for instance in Minna metropolis work on Sabon Gari road and Bomas Road (Back of Obasanjo Complex) to mark your 100 Days in office. The mentioned roads are commercial roads. We think commissioning those roads to mark your 100 days in office will earn you better respect from in and outside Niger. Beside, the same manufacturer of the Cold Asphalt Technology that is globally said to be a faster approach to road maintenance, Engr. Sani Ndanusa was the same person during his days as Commissioner for works that is responsible for the construction of sub-standard roads in the state, I mean it took him more than 5months to do a standard job on Government House road during the days of Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu.

Your Excellency, please not again, you shouldn't buy into persons of no credibility, even though you called on Nigerlites to hold you responsible for those you appoint. And to cap it all, it is better you celebrate your 100 days In office with tangible project(s) than Patching Up sub-standard roads that will need another attention before the year runs out. For how long will you be patching up sub-standard road(s) ?, is it not better you reconstruct these roads.
