Fatai Ajidagba And APC Ajeromi-Ifelodun Leadership

The politics of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ajeromi-Ifelodun is beyond social, print and electronic media in the sense that these media forums cannot make Hon Fatai Ajidagba, the former Ifelodun LCDA to win second term without going through the stakeholders of Ajeromi-Ifelodun APC.

Precisely a month ago, a popular media forum opened by one Pentecostal pastor in Ifelodun LCDA called “Bring Back Ajifat engaged in a strong political discussion where a staunch APC member took a swipe on Hon Fatai Ajidagba’s second term and boldly countered his supporters that second term can only be possible through the APC Ajeromi-Ifelodun party leaders not facebook or twitter campaigns on Ajifat.

It was a mind- blogging that APC in Ajeromi-Ifelodun is gradually heading towards political extinction due to overbearing structure created by self-made party leaders. March 28 and April 11 would not be forgotten in hurry on how the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) tsunami swept all the political strongholds of the APC in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.The fact remains that Ajif voters are fed of APC leadership in all ramifications.

PDP is the only alternative party to vote APC out of power in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.The sad moment of APC leadership in Ajif is that Hon Fatai Ajidagba has been alleged of participating in the political lost of some politicians who felt they were semi-gods to the voters. Political mudslinging will only end APC domineering leadership in Ajeromi-Ifelodun if it is not corrected now.Hon Fatai Ajidagba serves as a better candidate if fielded by the APC and if victory must be secured in the next coming LG polls in Ifelodun LCDA. His giant strides are worthy to be emulated but APC leadership seems to be overheating the polity which is giving room to unknown candidates of the PDP to make mockery of the APC.

In Ajeromi-Ifelodun,the Yorubas are just 30 percent of the population compared to non-Yoruba speaking communities that are 70 percent that mostly belong to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).The political survey so far indicated that even the Yorubas comprises Kwara,Ogun,Oyo,Ekiti and few Lagosians that are in politics of Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Lagos State.

APC felt their political domineering in 2015 would make significant impact or victory but only to be disgracefully dislodged by aggrieved voters. Even though, many Ajif big wig politicians have wrongly accused Ajifat as a product of imposition and running partisan politics.Ajifat came to rectify the political process that has been sore by the APC leaders in the two local governments. As far Ajegunle APC is concerned, APC is a dead party waiting for final burial.

In as much as we continued to accuse Ajifat as he is popularly called by his admirers for playing partisan politics, he remains the peoples’ choice in Ifelodun LCDA.With the various miscreants ‘attacks on regular basis to discredit Ajifat would not prevent his political victory if anything to go by. Any attempt to alternate Hon Fatai Ajidagba’s name from the APC leadership in the local government, then APC is dead. His political legacy as the former Ifelodun LCDA chairman speaks volume of his stewardship.Ajeromi-Ifelodun politics has been ruled by leaders who felt power belongs to them. One thing Ajifat did in his leadership, he embraced all non-Yoruba speaking communities into his government. If Hon Fatai Ajidagba must survive the return battle, then some of these loyalists must pass through the school of reformation and change.

Since the enthronement of democracy in Ajeromi-Ifelodun,no elected local government chairman has beaten the political records of Hon Fatai Ajidagba including past legislators. He judiciously used the LG resources to develop Ifelodun LCDA than diverting it into monthly salaries to some desperate voters and party leaders. Can Taiwo Adenekan,Kamal Bayewu,HKT,Ladi Balogun,KAP and others pinpoint any project executed except Hon Adewale Adeogun as a former Education Secretary who used his one tenure to make Ajegunle schools relevant in Nigeria.

They have succeeded in creating political dynasty for APC in the two local governments which has been dismantled by the PDP.The Executive Secretaries cannot be blamed for the fall out of these APC gladiators in Ajeromi-Ifelodun because these elements failed to protect the interest of the people. Some of these political elements succeeded in building businesses outside Ajegunle that gave them political fame but Ajifat decided to settle in Ajegunle with his family.

However, Hon Fatai Ajidagba won all his units for HKT in the last elections. The rumours making rounds that some elements intended to work against Ajifat’s second term. Having won several awards on credibility not favour, he remains the most viable candidate to beat in the next LG poll in Ifelodun. If God gives power, who is that mortal to change it. It was God that brought Ajifat to power not man. Among all the APC grassroots politician, only Ajifat,Ajibola,Adewale,Pa Rabiu Oluwa, the apex leader that built political legacies in the two local governments. Chief Rabiu Oluwa is over 70 years and he must not allow political sentiment to take his decision. The only way APC can survive the political tsunami if credible people like Ajifat andAdewale are elected as party candidates and nothing more.

Lastly, Hon Fatai Ajidagba ‘s government has positively affected every Ifelodun dwellers including widows, orphans, widowers and just mention but a few. Today Ifelodun LCDA is rated as the best local government in Lagos state through his laudable and feasible achievements. Can we say Ajidagba does not deserve a second term for God’s sake? Let us allow the sleeping dogs lie and make democracy prevail in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
