Nigeria: Suicide Bomber Rocks Wedding Ceremony, Kills 6, Injures 30

SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, (THEWILL) – No fewer than six persons were killed on Friday while 30 others were injured as a suicide bomber stormed a wedding ceremony in Tashan Alade, a commuiny in Hawul Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State.

The attack, according to a local vigilante member, Ibrahim Bitrus, happened around 6:10am .

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, who confirmed the attack to journalists, said: “I confirm the report on an alleged suicide bombing in Tashan Alade in Hawul LGA. The incident was reported to be at a wedding Fatiha.

“Presently, six persons, all males, whose identities are unknown are confirmed dead, while 30 others were injured. Investigation is in progress on the issue.”

He however added that the attack did not affect the inauguration of the state governor, Kashim Shettima, for a second term in office, saying the inauguration which held in Maiduguri, the state capital, was very peaceful.
