Contrary to reports that the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari hurriedly left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on health ground some few days ago, emerging facts made available to Newspot Nigeria are indicating that the Incoming President, indeed, left Nigeria to avoid undue pressure consistently mounted on him on Ministerial appointments.

The President-elect returned to Nigeria earlier today through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 5.20am as he is billed to take oath of office at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Friday

A long-time associate of the President-elect told Newspot Nigeria that some of his closest political associates, die-hard loyalists and friends had constituted greatest distractions on issues of cabinet composition, thus forcing him to seek some moments of respite preparatory to taking over.

He said the pressure on Buhari was so intense that he had no personal time to prepare himself properly for take-over of government, while some of those so close to him have continued to act as defacto president with assurances to people about securing jobs for them under Buhari’s government.

He said those involved had filed more than 10 different lists of those they shortlisted for cabinet appointments and had expected Buhari to just endorse them based on the closeness they enjoyed with him.

He said the most desperate among the Buhari’s close friends took the extra step of releasing the lists they compiled to the media, a reason the issue began to trend on the social media, most especially some few days ago.

The Pressure on Jonathan over cabinet formation had caused the All Progressives Congress (APC) to dismiss reports that he had shortlisted some names to be appointed as ministers as it debunked reports that Buhari had equally submitted some names to the Department of State Security.

He also revealed that some Ministers of the out-going President Jonathan have been going through the back door to seek audience with Buhari with the aim of securing some measure of closeness to him before taking over as president of Nigeria.

There have been cases of monumental fraud allegedly perpetrated under the out-going regime of President Jonathan, just as the President-elect has been expressing keenness about looking into the books to ensure that those who stole Nigeria’s monies return what they stole into National coffers.

Buhari had complained against poor hand-over notes submitted to the Transition Committee headed by Alhaji Ahmed Joda which he appointed, as most of the ministers were said to have shunned instructions issued to them by Jonathan to prepare their hand over notes to the incoming administration.

Feelers from the National Headquarters of the APC are indicating that the President-elect will shock many of those who hoped to hold a larger than life influence on him after taking over as President since he has been tactfully easing himself away from them.

Officials of APC disclosed to Newspot Nigeria at different times that Buhari has up till now not tabled the issue of ministerial appointment with anyone amid his insistence that he should be sworn in first before giving considerations to such.

The President-elect had notified state governors that he would not take any list from them to form his cabinet, contending that the practice which had been adopted by the PDP government over the past 16 years had encouraged corruption to fester within the federal cabinets.
