THE GRINNING GUESTS

Source: Mr. Adeola Ikuomola

The grinning guests
In legendry banquet halls
Pick their bleeping wisdom teeth
Like peckers fashioning holes in a tree

They bash like thunders
And wrestle wildly like waves
Terrifying our new house masters
Like the clean devil in a dirty civil service

The surfeiting guests
Sorrowing in their excesses
Throw up the meal at the moonlight
Like the whirlwinds winding up the sands

In their quests for wine
They square rooted the swine
They ruin the stars, main the moon
With the volumes of vanities in their veins

The gasping guests
Dry-clean the dark highways
Like heavy floods in their competencies
Executing their aquatic projects in milestones

The frozen home fronts
Coupled with the social order
Wail and ail like the pregnant clouds
For redemptive arks up in the barren deserts
