“Solidarity Message On 52nd African Liberation Day”

“No amount of money can buy a human life. Therefore it must never be marketed. We sent a brigade of doctors, scientists and health workers, all with the aim to look for a solution for this disease, to try to eliminate this new pandemic that is assaulting humanity.

We are working as a team which is the best way to work as doctors, not just looking at the disease, but trying to find ways to prevent it [from] repeating itself. We are working more to try to avoid other people from getting ill. Not just finding the cure, but avoiding other people getting ill.

It is a problem about destroying the environment. It is beyond poverty. We are killing our planet. Health is a human right. If you ask someone how much they would pay to save the life of a child, nobody can give you an amount because there is not enough money to pay for the life of a human being. Something that has no price cannot be on the market.”

“Cuban Doctor Aleida Guevara- on the deadly Ebola epidemic in Africa”.

SOLIDARITY MESSAGE:
The Africa Liberation Day this year marked the 52nd Anniversary of the signing in Addis Ababa of the Charter of the former Organisation of African Unity. The O. A. U. had resolved on 25 May 1963 to be observed as African Liberation Day.

The former OAU, now African Union (AU) had the mandate to achieve two main goals: to end colonialism and apartheid and to create a strong, free, independent, dignified and united Africa. Colonialism and apartheid formally ended in 1994, some 34 years after formal decolonisation took place and many of the current existing states came into being in the 1960s.

On this auspicious day, the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity joins with other good people of the world in celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the African Liberation Day. The Foundation extends its solidarity and heartfelt congratulations to the people of Africa as well as people of African descent living in the Diasporas.

This year marks also the 50th anniversary of the visit of Ernesto Guevara and a team of Cuban medics to Africa in 1965. The purpose of such visit was to launch the first vaccination campaign against polio in the Republic of Congo. Something the French colonial powers deliberately failed to organize. It is estimate today that more than 40,000 Africans have studied in Cuba on full scholarships funded by the Cuban revolutionary Government since the 1960s.

Cuban peaceful, humanitarian and development assistance to Africa, though this is not reported in the mainstream corporate media, is uncountable to say the least. Only few weeks ago the Henry Reeve Cuban Medic Brigade successfully ended it campaign to contain the deadly Ebola epidemic in Africa. Cuba stands tall above others as the single most country that had sent medics to West Africa to help fight the killer virus.

For millions of people around the world, this day represents hope for peace, stability, freedom and dignity across Africa and the diasporas. As part of events marking 52nd African Liberation Day today, the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity has launched the following organs:

Chavez Solidarity City Brigade
Simon Bolivar Solidarity Humanitarian Brigade
Ernesto Guevara Solidarity Healthcare Brigade
The path to development and progress in Africa is on its end juncture. The thirst for democracy, freedom and dignity on the continent is a clear demonstration of the African people untiring efforts to realize the goals setout by the founding leaders of the liberation of the continent.

The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity is proud to be associated with the dreams and aspiration of the African people for peace, stability, youth employment, poverty eradication, good healthcare system, education for all, infrastructural development, natural resources development, protection of the environment, available and affordable power and water supply, to mention but a few.

Our mission as always is to defend and preserve the legacy of Commandant Hugo Chavez, create meaningful impact to improve the lives people everywhere we operate; rekindle hope for the hopeless; and our vision for humankind is happiness to all.

As we celebrate with the African Union and Africans everywhere, we wish Africa and Africans speedy recovery from the deadly and destructive effect of the Ebola epidemic.
