Support For Henry Cuban Medical Brigade

By Hugo Chavez Foundation

On 8th May, 2015 the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) in a public release statement applauded the countries of Latin America, particularly Cuba, for their unrelenting humanitarian services to the poorest of the poor people around the world.

Few days later the statement of the Foundation was vindicated with the decision by the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize to the HENRY REEVE Cuban Medical Brigade. The Brigade and its forerunners have since inception contributed to the health, human rights and dignity of people in all corners of the world.

The Brigade stands tall today above others in saving human lives and providing humanitarian assistance to millions in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia affected by famine, natural disasters and serous epidemics. This was recently manifested again in Africa, where the timely intervention of the Brigade helped to save lives and more destruction and devastation due to the Ebola epidemics.

This noble international Institution Brigade has been named Henry Reeve in honor of a young U.S. doctor who died fighting for the independence of Cuba from Spanish occupation and colonialism. Cuba has also been in the vanguard of the struggle for national independence, democratic self-rule, peace and development in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.

Throughout its existence, the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade operates in a dangerous hostile climate, as a result of misrepresentation and distortion of facts by those who sought the destruction and occupation of Cuba. It is no more a secret to say that Cuba is the only country in this generation that has made so many sacrifices in other that other peoples and countries may live a life of dignity. Cuba today stands as the symbol of hope for the poorest of the poor around the world.

In the 1990s, Cuba lights the flame that brought the freedom of President Nelson Mandela and liberation of South Africa from the obnoxious apartheid rule.

Through this statement, the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity is very pleased indeed to learn that the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade has been overwhelmingly been voted by the annual conference of Norwegian union meeting in Trondheim, to receive this year’s Noble Peace Prize. This is no mistake. It has been the wish of most people around the world and the correct and democratic justice the Norwegian Nobel Committee is doing by recognizing the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade and Cuba’s unrelenting efforts to advance peace and strengthen global security through meaningful humanitarian services to humankind.

The Foundation feels compelled to salute the Norwegian Nobel Committee, both for having people of integrity and for recognizing the noble humanitarian activities of the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade, particularly in this very challenging field of mankind’s health, peace and dignity.

Long live Cuba!
