We'll reverse last minute appointments – APC

By The Rainbow

As the out-going President Goodluck Jonathan continues to offer appointments into various government offices before hand over on May 29, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to cancel such appointments because they were not done in good faith.

Dikko Radda, who is the APC's National Welfare Secretary, revealed this over the weekend in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC, monitored in Jos.

Radda argued that it was not possible for the out-going government to appoint subordinates for the in-coming administration to work with and therefore Jonathan cannot teach or dictate to APC what and how to run its government.

According to him, even those appointed are not confident enough to maintain their respective offices after May 29 this year because deep inside their minds they know that they would be sacked, emphasizing that if it were him he would not accept the offer.

He said: “There is no doubt that the in-coming government led by the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, would reverse the last minute appointments given by the out-going administration. Jonathan cannot dictate to us what is good or not. Those appointed know that after29 May, they would definitely leave because they were not sincerely appointed to serve the country.”

He noted that with the few days to the hand over, no appointment would make meaningful effect to the out-going administration, saying it was a great mistake for Jonathan to give offer of whatever kind, blaming those appointees for accepting jobs that would not last long.

Asked on the issue of privatization of NEPA by the present government, Radda said: “The in-coming government would look into it. If the decision would help the common masses, there would be no problem. But if otherwise, it would not be accepted.”
