National Council Of State Members Meet In Abuja

The National Council of State (NCS) meeting has kicked-off in the Presidential Villa, with members hoping to review the general elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission and won by the All Progressive Congress.

The meeting which is holding in the council chambers of the Presidential Villa has in attendance all former Military Head of States and past President except, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, who had always shunned the meeting, was one of the first callers after the arrival of Ibrahim Babangida.

Other noticeable figures who have been habitually absent from the council's meeting in the past but are present are, Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The Nigerian Police Council, which will be meeting after the NCS, is expected to also ratify the appointment of the Acting Inspector General (IG) of Police, Solomon Arase, as the substantive IG of the police force if the National Council of States ‎accepts the recommendation from President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Police Council will meet at 2:00pm local time.
