Nigerian (yoruba) Cardiologist In Dallas, Usa, Calls For Slaughter Of The Igbo In Nigeria – The Lessons

By Benjamin Obiajulu Aduba

In a Facebook posting Dr. Adeniran Abraham Ariyo, as reported by African Sun Times, (a reputable on line publication severally honored by American media) that the cardiologist called for the slaughter of the Igbo in Lagos and Abuja.

Another Nigeria medical doctor Ola Kassim, MD has called the outburst unfortunate and supported the call for Dr. Ariyo to apologize for his unfortunate outburst stating that it is against all that their profession (medicine) stands for. Mr. Kassim argues that “To err is human; to forgive is divine!” which when applied to Dr. Ariyo would mean that Nigerian should note what the doctor did and wait for God to forgive him. People like me do not have a direct line to God and would not know if and when God has absolved Dr. Ariyo for calling for the destruction of His children. I will therefore suggest that Nigerians and humanity forgive him and wait for the Divine to affirm the forgiveness. Please note that I used Nigerians and humanity not for the Igbo to forgive for this crime against humanity not just the Igbo

But in the mean time we need to learn some lessons from the outburst.

  1. There is no privacy anymore in 2015 because information about all of us are now in the public domain. I now know Ariyo's home address, office address, medical incense number, telephones, etc. Just because of one misstep on his part. When you write or speak in what you may think provides you anonymity please learn that you are speaking or writing in the open.
  2. What may seem OK in a private conversation may not be OK when aired in public. Dr. Ariyo will never be the same from herein on out. He has suffered damaging blows that he self-inflicted.
  3. Hate has the tendency to boomerang. I believe that he loves some Igbo but has in himself a group hatred. The two can co-exist. One can love some Igbo but hate the Igbo. Ditto for some Yoruba and the Yoruba, etc.
  4. We all have to work with ourselves to expunge the demon within us to make us better humans.
  5. Listen to “Pastor Joe wrote earlier today the that Nigerians at home interact more harmoniously across ethnic lines than is apparent on Nigerian cyberspace which is populated mostly by those over the age of 50 years, many of whom have not stepped foot on Nigerian soil for 20 to 30 years.” As quoted by Mr. Kassim

Dr. Ariyo may listen to his Lagos brother who wrote

As you guys know I was born and raised in Lagos. Unlike most of you guys here who did not quite mingle with other Nigerians, I consider myself very luck. I am of triple heritage. I am Igbo, I am Yoruba and I am Nigerian. Because of my upbringing, I speak fluent Yoruba and assimilate with the people. I want to help Dr. Abraham Ayilo out. If anyone reading this email know the man, tell him to get himself up; get out of his hiding and make an unreserved apology for his rant. There are many way he can make his apology. I’ll suggest he may want to consider using the same medium he used – face book – to make his apology. The other medium he can use is by calling the President of ICAN – ICAN being Igbo Community Association of Dallas Texas and asking to speak to Ndigbo in Dallas Texas. He can go to their monthly meeting and make an unreserved apology. We all make mistakes and we should learn to be forgiving of others when they wronged us.

Vin Cool Breeze Otuonye
Or he may insist that he was misquoted and listen to his other Lagos brothers who want him to “hang tough.”

The choices are his to make
All of us can use the lessons above
