Dakuku’s Lie Over Rivers Gov’ship Poll: Contradicts Self, Implicates AIG, Ogunshaki

By Rivers State PDP

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is happy the grand plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rig the PDP out in the just concluded governorship election which failed has been confirmed by no other than the APC governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside himself.

Dakuku while speaking on Africa Independent Television, AIT personality interview on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in an attempt to prove that no election took place in the State said the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 6, Calabar, Tunde Ogunshaki told them (APC) in a private meeting that he personally came to Rivers State to rescue the APC.

Mr Dakuku also admitted that when Ogunshaki was allegedly ordered by the Presidency to go back to Calabar, the zone 6 headquarters, he (Ogunshaki) also personally called him to inform him of the new development, which he lamented was responsible for the APC’s woeful defeat at the polls.

Also claiming that elections did not hold in Rivers State, Mr Dakuku failed to explain why and how his party, the APC managed to win the election in Eleme and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas with wide margin, leaving the PDP with less than 5,000 votes in the two LGAs.

It’s also worthy of note, Dakuku’s inability to rationalize Governor Amaechi’s unlawful moment from one unit to the other across the State on the election day.

It’s rather ridiculous that a governorship candidate of Mr. Dakuku’s caliber is not abreast of the provisions of the electoral law and the only reason he could give for his benefactor’s (Amaechi) breaching of the law is that “For Christ sake, Amaechi though a voter is the Governor”.

He also alleged that electoral materials were hijacked by hoodlums whom he also unleashed terror on some parts of the State without saying who those hoodlums were and whose party members the victims were.

Mr Dakuku is therefore speaking through both sides of his mouth by regarding the victory of PDP as a sham and yet accepted the victory of the APC from the same elections as credible in Opobo/Nkoro and Eleme LGAs where APC won.

We are shocked however that up to date, neither Dakuku nor the APC has denied or rejected the votes they received in the two LGAs, where they won.

It’s also pertinent to note that no relations of the alleged pre or post election violence have come up to accuse the PDP of responsibility of their predicament.

Stories of such massive killings are only being peddled in the newspapers by the APC to whip up sentiments and invoke emotions of sympathy to strengthen their wish that the elections be cancelled.

Rather than join issues with Mr Dakuku, we prefer to appeal to him to accept defeat and congratulate the winner, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike who is the people’s choice and help in the process of rebuilding and uniting our marginalized people, which is the pre-requisite for the peace and progress he (Dakuku) is talking about.

This is the time to appeal to the people’s conscience and not their emotions.
