Global Industry Leaders Lined-Up For Dubai Payment Expo

  • Over 10,000 visitors expected
  • 300 exhibitors will showcase the very latest innovations
  • Convergence of payments, retail driving regional innovation

DUBAI, 20 MARCH 2015 – On 12 and 13 May ten thousand delegates from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, India, Pakistan and Turkey are expected to converge on Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for Cards & Payments Middle East, one of the largest events covering payment and commerce.

The impressive line-up of speakers confirmed for the event, this year in its 16th year, includes world famous geek and author of 'Age of Content', Robert Scobie, and Professor Viktor Mayer-Schonberger, the man who quite literally wrote the book about big data titled 'Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work and Think'.

The event has become the bellwether for the forces shaping regional payment trends and innovations. And with the growing excitement around the convergence of payments and commerce following the launch of Apple Pay in October and rival Samsung Pay, this year will be no different.

Keynote speakers include Mung Ki Woo, the force behind MasterCard's global innovation in digital payments, and Professor James Wayman, the global authority on biometrics and Director of the Biometric Identification Research Program at San Jose State University who will unpick the latest trends in payment innovations and explaining their significance for consumers' everyday lives.

“We are seeing unprecedented disruption and transformation in payments and commerce, more so than in any other industry,” says Joseph Ridley, General Manager, Terrapinn Middle East. “Because it underlies every transaction in every country between people and things and people and people, the potential impact is endless in terms of economic growth, financial inclusion and empowerment, and ultimately consumer convenience.”

The theme this year is 'Riding the Wave of Innovation' with separate e-commerce, retail and mobileshows also running alongside Cards & Payments Middle East. This will give delegates a unique opportunity to witness the increasing overlap between e-commerce, retail and payment transactions and the new opportunities this will create for retailers and payment industry participants all under one roof.

Over 300 exhibitors will fill the exhibition halls with the latest innovations covering everything from next generation payment terminals to biometric cards, mobile payment technologies, fraud-busting software and a whole deal more.
