AGN Condemns Attack On Nigerians By South Africans

By Actors Guild Of Nigeria

Actors Guild of Nigeria has spoken against incessant xenophobic attack on Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa. AGN National PRO, High Chief Mcsmith Ochendo in a statement said that the attack is a pointer that South Africa has not fully appreciated the enormous sacrifice Nigeria as a nation made towards the emancipation of South Africa.

According to the AGN Image maker “Consequent upon resolutions unanimously agreed by a vast majority of our congress which held at Eko Hotel and Suite, we wish to condemn in strong terms the xenophobic attacks on Africans in general and Nigerians in particular in South Africa. We wish to recall that for the umpteenth time our citizens have been subjected to unpleasant conditions in South Africa without a reprisal response to their citizens in our country.

South Africa has enjoyed humongous economic boom via her indigenous companies in Nigeria like MTN, DSTV, Shoprite, Banks etc. Nigeria has been gradually swallowed in cultural imperialism with the emergence of these companies. It is so because we provided an enabling environment for them. We hereby advise the Nigeria government to use every diplomatic means possible to call the South African Government to order.

Nigerians and indeed all citizens of the world should be allowed to visit, live or work in any part of the continent without fear of attack as long as they meet local statutory requirements of the country of their sojourn. AMB.

Emeka Ike, President, Actors Guild of Nigeria is very crestfallen by this development from South Africa and would want the Federal Government of Nigeria to take immediate action to ensure the safety of lives and property of Nigerians in South Africa, AGN also calls for calm and restraint at home even in the face of obvious provocation that is capable of sparking off a reprisal.

AGN President AMB Emeka Ike also wants Government to draw the attention of South Africa to the danger the actions of its citizens portend given the fact that the world has become a global village where political and economic interests have become universal”. AGN National PRO, High Chief Mcsmith Ochendo said.
