Imo NUJ inaugurates credentials committee for election

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Chapter has inaugurated the 2015 credentials committee for its election coming up this year.

Speaking during the inauguration that took place at the Press Center, Owerri, the NUJ chairman, Sir Innocent Igwe (JP) called on members of the committee to ensure that they conduct credible election in line with the NUJ constitution, adding that the members are crop of experienced journalists who have played major roles in repositioning the noble profession.

The members of the committee are: Elder Lambert Ojukwu (Publisher of Nigerian Newspoint) as Chairman, while Sunny Ejiogu will serve as Secretary. Others members are former NUJ Chairman, Ferdinand Ibecheozo, Chioma Ofurum and Francis Egbonugo.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the committee, Elder Lambert Ojukwu, who spoke on behalf of the members, expressed appreciation to the Council for finding them worthy and capable to do the job, stressing with high sense of dedication, that they will do their best to conduct an election that will be adjudged free, fair and credible. He implored the copious support of the members to enable the committee do a good job, adding that the committee will not disappoint the Union.

He charged members of the Union to continue to carry themselves with dignity, integrity and respect which he said are the only ingredients needed for the profession to grow, insisting that no profession can be as honorable as journalism which is the pride of every nation.
