The police in Nigeria Thursday revealed the authentic identity of the nanny that abducted three children, ages 4, 6, 11 months, from their residence in Lawanson, Surulere, Nigeria. The kids were rescued on Tuesday night, about a week after their kidnap by the nanny and her gang, who demanded N15 million as ransom.

The nanny who was hired from OLX, a buying and selling website, is Funmilayo Adeyemi, a native of Osun State, residing at Coker Estate, Shasha, Akowonjo, a suburb of Lagos, police sources said.

Funmilayo had identified herself as Mary Adebiyi to the parents of the kids during her initial interview and presented forged identification.

She was detained on Wednesday night as she tried to flee town after smart police investigators trailed her using the phone her gang was using to contact the family. The cell phone was also linked to the bank account where the family was instructed to deposit the ransom.

Police sources told THEWILL that her syndicate is notorious for kidnapping kids. The other members of the gang have gone underground.
