SAN FRANCISCO, April 03, (THEWILL)  – All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, weekend, described the election of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as one of the greatest blessings that God has packaged for Nigerians at this time of the country's democratic experience, adding that the APC will remodel the socio-economic fortunes of Nigeria.

The APC candidate stated this at the Osubi Airport, Warri, Delta State, while speaking to journalists on his arrival from Abuja after attending the unique ceremony of the collection of Certificate of Return by the President-Elect, General Buhari.

“My message to Deltans and my supporters is that we should all work together in unity and ensure that we move into the mainstream politics of the country because that is the future of Nigeria. And we will make that statement very clearly on April 11, the same way Nigerians made that statement very clearly on March 28. Deltans cannot afford to be in oppostion, Deltans will vote for the APC and O'tega Emerhor,” he declared.

Emerhor said Delta State is too strategic for it to be left behind in the polity of the country, pointing out that with the victory of General Buhari, Nigerians have agreed that they needed a change that will move the country forward.

While revealing that General Buhari would be coming to Delta State next week, the APC candidate noted that Nigerians have agreed that they were not where they are supposed to be in the scheme of things, and that is why they all voted for change.

“I bring the goodwill message of the president-elect to the good people of Delta state. As you know the whole country has agreed on the direction Nigeria should go, which is the direction of change. APC has been preaching change and the whole country has agreed that where we are today is not where we are supposed to be. And they have decided that a new direction that is led by General Mohammadu Buhari, is where Nigeria is going,” he said.

Speaking on the crisis in the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Emerhor said talks are presently ongoing on how to resolve the crisis and bring the two factions together, adding that Urhobos are ready to join the mainstream government of the day.

He commended the efforts of Urhobo Elders who are currently working round the clock “to unite the UPU, Ogboru and my humble-self.”

According to him, “ It is a good thing and I look forward to having a good handshake with Bro. Great Ogboru in the next couple of days. I hear that a committee has been set up at the instance of Chief Omene and Onoge to do the needful. I embrace this good attempt to unify the Urhobo Nation.”

He revealed that since the announcement of the results of last Saturday's election declaring Buhari as the President-elect, various groups in Delta State have been calling him, telling him they want to join APC.

He said Buhari will accept all the various groups that have agreed to join APC when he come to the State, adding that they will hold a rally where Buhari will accept all those that have agreed to join the direction of change.

On the rumoured merger between APC and LP, Emerhor said since Urhobos have all agreed to join the mainstream party in the country, APC in the state is willing to accommodate all those that will come to join them.

After leaving the Osubi Airport, Emerhor and his campaign train hit the city of Warri and Effurun, heralding the message of change in Delta State.

His Director of Media and Political Communication, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, told newsmen in a separate interview that his Principal, “Olorogun O'tega Emerhor, is concerned about the future of the Urhobo Nation in the next political dispensation, but more importantly about Urhobo unity, growth and development, saying that is why he is not against any move by the elders of Urhobo Nation to reconcile the UPU and all other stakeholders including Chief Ogboru.

According to him, “we are all brothers that share common ancestry and so we must not enter the April 11 elections a divided house, and that is one of the reasons for these reconciliatory moves by our fathers. And, of course, you know from the outcome of the Presidential Election, Urhobo cannot afford to be in opposition. We cannot afford to be isolated from the incoming Federal Government to be led by General Muhammadu Buhari .

“Olorogun O'tega Emerhor is a vital key for Urhobo Nation to connect positively and prosperously with the incoming government, he is a major player in the APC and widely accepted. So these are some of the things Olorogun Emerhor is telling our leaders and other stakeholders…”
