Buhari Declared Winner Of Nigeria's Presidential Election

SAN FRANCISCO, April 01, (THEWILL)  – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared General Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of Saturday's presidential election.

Announcing the result of the election, Chairman of the INEC, Professor Attahiru Jega, said Buhari polled 15, 424, 921 votes to defeat incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 12, 853, 162 votes.

“Muhammadu Buhari, of the APC, having satisfied the requirement for the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Jega declared.
