ISU Youth Emancipation Movement: ISU Youths Sue For Peace, Warn IMHA Candidates To Play By The Rules

As individuals and organizations in the country continue to canvass for peaceful and credible polls in Nigeria, the Isu Youths Emancipation Movement (IYEM) has appealed to candidates in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections in the council to shun act capable of truncating the peaceful conduct of the exercise, advising them to play by the rules.

The youths made this declaration while holding election debate for House of Assembly candidates jostling to occupy Isu state constituency penultimate week at the Central School, Umundugba, the council headquarters.

Candidates in attendance include, Messrs. Ngozi Obiefule (APC), Modestus Osakwe (PDP), Emeka Iwunze (UPP) and Smart Mbah of the (SDP).

Others were, Ifeanyi Oguzie (LP), Lambert Orisakwe (ACCORD), Chinedu Ajonuma (APGA), Uju Okoro (KOWA) and Mrs. Ada Orji Nwanyanwu, APGA House of Representatives candidate.

In his speech, coordinator of the programme, Mr. Festus Maduba expressed happiness that the presence of party candidates at the debate was an indication that the election would be rancour free exercise, and stressed the need for all hands to be on deck in ensuring the unity of the council before, during and after the poll.

Mr. Maduba while stressing further also called on the candidates to put the interest of Isu people first, instead of thinking only for their personal gains immediately a winner emerges.

Responding to questions from the youths, candidates in their separate reactions heaped their ambitions on their conscious quest to give quality representation to the good people of Isu local government, appealing to the youths to support them.

According to the candidates, if elected, they would establish skill acquisition centers, set up interest free loans unit, guarantee women and youth's empowerment, as well as the improvement of agricultural revolution in the council.

In their separate speeches, the Transition Committee Chairman of Isu LGA, Hon. Kelvin Ike, President and Founder of the organization, Barr (Prince) Darlington Ogbenna who served as chairman of the occasion commended organizers of the event for their professionalism and called on other organizations in the LGA to emulate them.

They therefore charged candidates vying for the seat to see their rivals as brothers and sisters whose interests should be on how the council would be developed, instead of playing politics of bitterness and rancour, which they described as an act capable of endangering the peaceful co-existence of the area.

They warned the candidates not to be involved in any unholy act that could spark off hatred and envy against their opponents, advising them to play politics of issues devoid of violence before, during and after the election scheduled to hold on the 11thof April, 2015.
