Monguno LG boss visits liberated home two weeks after

At last, the council chairman of Monguno local government area of Borno state, Alhaji Ali Sheriff Galgal has visited Monguno town and environs which has been liberated by Nigerian troops two weeks ago, assessing the level of destructions took place there during the seizure of the town by Boko Haram insurgents.

Briefing our correspondent in Maiduguri about the trip, a source among the selected people that accompanied the chairman, said while arriving in Monguno town on Sunday, the chairman visited those who were rescued from the insurgents, kept in a place with food and other social services provided by the troops.

There, the chairman presented food items to the rescued persons, urging them to consider what happened to them as part of the destiny, saying they should be peaceful and prayerful for lasting peace in Borno state and the country in general.

The chairman, who went through street after street in Monguno town, found dead bodies were scattered everywhere, and by visiting some government structures and residences of some prominent persons, he still discovered some people were killed therein, noting that the insurgents were successful in looting the places, killing the people who hid there for safety.

Shortly after inspecting Monguno town, the chairman, Alhaji Ali Sheriff Galgal visited 5-Brigade Nigerian Army Monguno, while interacting with the Commanding Officer, he extolled gallant efforts of the officers of the Brigade, presenting them food items.

Brigadier Commander General Udoh told the chairman and his entourage that the Boko Haram terrorists were either killed or driven out of the territory, stressing that government is doing all it could to restore normalcy and allow residents of the area to return home soon.
