2015: Akpabio’s Wife takes PDP Campaign to Women

…Visits Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene,Obot Akara

Women in Ikot Ekpene federal constituency comprising Essien Udium, Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara have pledged to cast their votes massively for all the candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming general elections slated for March 28 and April 11, 2015.

They made their decision known Monday when the wife of the governor Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio visited the areas on a Meet-The-Women Local Government Tour.

At the Essien Udim local government hall in Afaha Ikot Ebak venue of the sensitization tour, the PDP women leader, Mrs. Rosemary Umoh, chapter PDP chairman, Mr Ntiedo Usoro, Council chairman of Essien Ubim, Mr Nse Ntuen and wife of the paramount ruler, Obongawan Cosmas Akpan, re-stated the preparedness of the women of the area to cast their votes for the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, the election of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio as senator, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan as House of Representative Members as well as the house of Assembly candidate, Mr. Nse Ntuen.

They pointed out that the women of the state have felt the impact of the PDP led government under the leadership of Chief Godswill Akpabio and commended the number of appointive and elective positions occupied by the female folks, and commended Governor Akpabio and the wife, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio for their gender-friendly disposition.

They told the governor's wife that Essien Ubium women were more comfortable with the PDP and cannot afford to support any opposition party which they believe have nothing good to offer the state.

At Obot Akara, the wife of the local government chairman, Mrs. Emem Ntekpere, Wife of the Commissioner for youth and sports, Mrs Blessing Monday Uko, Chairman, State secondary Education Board Prof. Maria Ikrok, and the paramount ruler's wife Akwa Obonganwan Akan Umoh Adiaha, extolled the gender-friendly disposition of the governor and his wife, Umoma and vowed to vote PDP in all the elective positions on the election day.

They reminded Mrs. Akpabio that Obot Akara has never played opposition at anytime since the creation of the local government area and pledged to deliver the area for PDP as usual.

In a goodwill massage, the Council Chairman, Mr Idongesit Ntekpere, while welcoming the governor's wife and her entourage to the area declared that there is no opposition political party in Obot Akara, and predicted a resounding victory for the ruling PDP.

On her part the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Valarie Ebe, told the women that it was only the PDP that could shower so much love on the women as currently witness under the present dispensation. She enjoined all to make good use of their voters card on the election day by voting President Jonathan, Chief Godswill Akpabio and Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

At the Ikot Ekpene council hall venue of the tour for Ikot Ekpene, the women represented by the council chairman Mrs. Gloria Useh, PDP Senatorial leader, Obonganwan Regina Udoma, and the President National Council for Women society, NCWS, Mrs. Menyene Nkwo, assured their vote for all candidate of the party.

They enumerated the achievements of the PDP government in the past seven and half years, noting that Ikot Ekpene has witnessed massive transformation under Akpabio's government and pledged to reciprocate the love the government of the day has for the area and the women in particular through their votes.

Addressing the women, in all the local government areas visited, Mrs. Akpabio, thanked the women for the warm reception accorded her and for being supportive of her husband's administration.

She canvassed support for the PDP governoship standard bearer, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, her husband's senatorial bid, and the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The governor's wife advised the women not to allow members of the opposition party to mis-lead them into wasting their votes for such party, saying those parties have nothing to offer Akwa Ibom people.

Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel who was at home with the people, danced and sang with them and reiterated the campaign promises of her husband, to build international markets, introduce mechanized farming and develop manpower for improved productivity, as well as provide more industries for gainful employments.
