Jonathan meets youths in Lagos, promises to ride made-in-Nigeria cars soon

President Goodluck Jonathan, in Lagos Sunday,  said he would soon  be driving 'Made in Nigeria Cars' and have his administration subscribe to it as part of the presidential and official convoy. 

The President spoke at the event christened 'Meet The President' programme hosted by a group called the Participate, Vote For Your Choice Candidate (PVC) at the Eko Hotel and Suites.

    At the event, President Jonathan promised to engage more youths in his next administration if elected, making reference to the likes of General Yakubu Gowon, who became Head of State at the age of 33, and former Governor of Old Rivers State, Diette Spiff, who was governor of the state in his late twenties.

   He explained that his visits to Baga, Mubi and other Northeastern states  few days ago were not as a result of the imminent elections but because it was time to visit, noting also that, as the Commander In Chief, he relies on intelligence reports to make such moves.

    The mamoth crowd made up of youths were ecstatic at the privilege of meeting with the president and asking him questions in a relaxed and unrestricted atmosphere.

   Jonathan assured the youths that he would from time to time engage them on regular discussions that will enable him feel their pulse even after his re-election. Different speakers at the event took turns to commend the president, assuring him of support for his reelection. 

   First to speak was the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro. He admits that change is required but the change should be moving forward and not backward.

   His words: President Jonathan has done so much for this nation. Has touched every facet of human endeavours. He has transformed the health sector, agriculture sector, built many universities and has empowered the youths.

   Obanikoro, who was cheered endlessly by the crowd, assured Nigerians that a vote for Jonathan would change their lives again for the best.

Also in attendance were Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Supervising Minister of Information, Chief Eden Duke, Kingsley Kuku, Chief Peter Obi, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, among others….
