Boko Haram: Nigerian army on the winning side as Gulak,other towns are liberated

Residents of Gulak and Garha towns, the headquarters of Madagali local government Area of Adamawa state and a major district in Hong LGA who most of them are taking refuge in Yola, the state capital jubilates over news that their has been liberated by the Nigerian troops.

Madagali was among the seven local government areas of the state captured by the Boko Haram insurgents since last year as six was liberated by the troops leaving Madagali council in the hands of the insurgents until on Friday it was also liberated.

The residents expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for boosting the morale of the troops during his visits to the state on Thursday adding that the President's visit has imparted on the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents.

One of the residents, who simply identified himself, Mallam Musa told This Day that the news of the liberation was something to thank God and the troops involved in the fight against the insurgents.

He said by implication the Federal Government has shown its determination to wipe out the insurgents in the north east and the country at large before the forthcoming general elections.

Musa said they got the news of the liberation of Gulak on BBC Hausa news and their men who were still living on mountain tops, who also called to break the good news to them.

“ Because of the good news our people are jubilating due to fact that they will soon return their ancestral homes and to live their normal lives. The news is a welcome development and for the first time the government has made us to believe and have confidence on them again” he said

Musa said, they were disturbed because other local government areas of the state were liberated leaving Madagali adding that thanked God it has also been liberated.

Another resident said that they were jubilating following the news filtering that their local government has been liberated adding that they needed to jubilates because of the good news.

He claimed that their people can now return home like residents of other local government liberated in the state who have beginning to return to their towns and villages.

This means that Adamawa state has been liberated from the control of the Boko Haram sect.

Garha town in Hong LGA was some few days ago been attacked by insurgents left many houses destroyed and scores of people lost their lives.

A resident of the area who simply called himself Womanyi said the town has been recaptured by the Nigeria military

"We thank God for the Nigeria army our town has been set free,this evil men had wanted to seize all the strong men and capture our wive and children for hostages but were repelled by our soldiers" He said
