Power Minister Condemns Attack On Biu

SAN FRANCISCO, February 27, (THEWILL) – Boko Haram Thursday's terror attack on Biu, Borno State, has been condemned.

Minister of State for Power, Hon. Mohammed Wakil, who condemned the attack, Friday, also described it as a sign of weakness and a show of wickedness .

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Alhaji Olawale Rasheed, the minister, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Borno State, said: “I received with sadness the news of bomb blast that happened again in Biu on Thursday.

“This is one bombing too many and a continuation of condemnable man's inhumanity to man by the almost defeated Boko Haram sect.

“The attack on Biu about four in recent times is a manifestation of desperation by the terrorists who are on the run following their defeat in Baga and other communities.

“It is a new shift to soft targets as the end come for the insurgents who had foisted evil bloodsucking reign on our people for so long.”

While commending members of the gallant Armed Forces for their recent gains against the insurgents, Wakil said: “I commend the security forces for ongoing successes. I wish to appeal for strengthening in the area of intelligence gathering and monitoring of sleeping cells of these terrorists.”

He however advised that the time had come to strengthen the working relationship between local vigilantes and the security agencies to prevent and forestall future attacks.

According to Wakil, “Our military that is winning the conventional war will also soon win the sect in their new attacks on soft targets.”

The Minister also condoled with the Emir of Biu and his people, saying : “I empathise with the victims and their families. May Almighty Allah grant us victory over these enemies of our people.”
