SAN FRANCISCO, February 26, (THEWILL) – For allegedly engaging boys to beat up a member of his church, the Founder of God's Grace Ministry Incorporated, St. Dikeji Miyerijesu, has subjected the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Warri South West Local Government, Delta State, Chief Boro Opudu, to a week's punishment, asking him to weed the grass in the church.

THEWILL learnt that Opudu, who doubles as Vice Chairman of Delta Waterways Security Committee and attend God's Grace Ministry was also suspended from the church for one week for allegedly violating the church rules.

The punishment slammed on Opudu is a routine practice for any member of the church who violates the church principles, a source said.

The source told THEWILL on Wednesday that the church forbids its members from engaging in street fighting, quarrelling and other social vices but the said member was said to have allegedly unleashed thugs on a member of the church who was allegedly beaten to a pulp last week.

The punishment was announced last Sunday at the headquarters of God's Grace Ministry Headquarter in Warri, a member of the church who craves anonymity told newsmen on Wednesday.

“He is to clear the grass commencing from Monday, February 23, two days ago at God's Grace Ministry, Eyara in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State”, the source said.

The source said that Bishop Miyerijesu who few years ago styled himself as “Bishop of the whole world” was bitter over the 'ungodly' attitude of Opudu who often goes to church services with a retinue of thugs and mobile policemen.

“The Bishop had described the attitude of the politician as “wicked” and that he was capable of killing a fellow human being”, the source said.

Sources said that some members of the church had pleaded with the General Overseer to only suspend the defaulting member and not ex-communicate him because was an asset to the ministry.

“The 'Bishop of the whole world' was very bitter with Chief Opudu for sending boys to beat up the church member, identified as Ojo, despite plea from people to him to forgive the man.

“So the Bishop had no option than to slam him with the violation order which is a routine practice as the order could be slammed on anybody no matter his status so far he or she violates the rules of the Church,” one of the sources added.

THEWILL learnt that while giving the order, the cleric had warned the defaulting member never to use labourers to do the grass clearing as the church's camera men will be on ground to monitor him.

The cleric warmed that the wrath of God would come upon the member if he failed to serve the punishment by himself, adding that the essence of the sanction was to deter others from engaging in such dastardly act.

Meanwhile, the member of the church who was allegedly beaten to stupor by thugs allegedly loyal to the politician is said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
