Beyond 2015 general elections in Nigeria

I have the feeling
That March 28, the apportioned date
Moved from February 14
Will come to reality
When Nigerians will troop out en masse
To display maturity
And choose a President of the people
That man whose words and actions
Are Nigeria first
From 14, though two contenders
The apportioned date when too, members
Of the National Assembly will be elected
Never again selected
And I have the feeling
That Nigeria will remain
United in its blessed diversity
Souring high above parochial penchants
How slowly we have learnt
But how steadily our awareness in governance
Has grown in our hearts and blood
Yet our politicians are cute
Nay, they are blunt and yet resolute
I have the feeling
That April 11, moved from February 14, will come
When our state mangers
Say governors and legislatures
Will be elected afresh or to continue
And this nation will remain
Because we have learnt so much
From our many errors – unfulfilled promises
Because we have seen so much
From comparison – poverty in abundance
Because we have heard so much
From around – the strength on our PVCs
And because hardly in history
Had the wish of the populace
Been trampled upon for too long
Yet I have the feeling
That we rise against them
Who preach the home return
Of Nigerians dwelling outside
Their affiliations
Because they are haters of Nigeria
Why not the leaderships, patriotic and responsible
Of Arewa, Ndigbo and Oduduwa
Overtly allay this fear via the media?
Together, we have come a long way
Not to fear only March 28
