Yoruba leaders endorse Jonathan

Some notable Yoruba leaders have endorsed the candidacy of the President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election, reports The Sun.

The leaders, who met in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Thursday, said they are throwing their weights behind Jonathan because of the implementation of the report of the National Conference.

They noted that the only genuine change the nation needs at the moment is that of the constitution and not of personality at the helm of the country's affairs.

They stated that a vote for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari is a death sentence to the implementation of the confab report.

The leaders at Thursday's meeting included Ayo Adebanjo, Senator Femi Okunrounmu; Dr Kunle Olajide of the Yoruba Unity Group; Dr Fredrick Fasehun, Chairman, Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN); Otunba Gani Adams, Coordinator of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC).

Others were Afenifere Secretary, Yinka Odumakin; Prof Dupe Olatubosun; Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State and Dayo Adeyeye, Minister of State for Works.
