Peter Ayodele Fayose Reserves the Right to Lie about Himself But Not to the Nigerian Children

Sir, your first name, Peter, says it all, a name given to you at birth, a name with a story behind it. As we all know, you rightly received your founding education in a Baptist school.

Sir, as you fully know, Peter the Apostle, whose actual name was Simon, was named Peter by Jesus Christ who saw him as a natural leader, and actually he became the leader of the Apostles following Jesus' ascension.

Peter the Apostle was energetic, confident, careful, loyal and he loved people, children in particular.

Sir, Peter was impulsive sometimes , too, hasty, irritable or even easily annoyed, but overall he was capable of showing loyalty to the people. But at the end, we know what happened; he denied three times that he ever knew Christ. But realizing his lies he became deeply shameful and wept bitterly.

Sir, like the Peter the Apostle, you are a public leader who now sits as a State Governor of Ekiti, and, as you know, your picture is almost everywhere and the children see it daily.

To the people, the children in particular, you, Sir, represent that which is positive, virtuous, and truthful as part of your public responsibility.

Sir, the discourse here is not about the nuances of what happened on the night of 20th June, 2014, at the Spotless Hotel in Ado-Ekiti—like Peter the Apostle, you, Sir, have all the time to exam your conscience about that night as you wake up every day before God.

Governor, following Captain Sagir Koli releasing an audio recording your God-given voice and that of other senior public leaders, this is what you said: “Nigerians should also be reminded of the existence of a technology called speech software, which is good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice…There are softwares that can turn printed text into synthesized speech, making it possible for anyone to use recordings of a person's voice to utter new things that the person never said…”

Sir, then came this from the current Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan: “I was there, Fayose was there, Otunba Omisore was there, Senator Obanikoro was there. I am not denying that there was a conversation but it was not what they are saying.”

Sir, then came a live video interview from the whistleblower, Captian Koli, narrating the Ekiti plot through the manipulating hands of his superior, Brigadier-General Aliyu Momoh.

Governor, in your own words while in the plotting room on that unfaithful night, you stated, “We give God all the glory.”

Sir, Nigerians , our children especially, will grow up to remember you as that PETER, the one who showed a perversion of God's name mixed with a political plot to gain power.
