US-Based Critic Thompson Essien Endorses Udom Emmanuel

An American-based Akwa Ibom- born social critic, Ikpafak Thompson Essien has join the swelling list of supporters and admirers of the 2015 PDP governorship candidate Mr Udom Emmanuel, declaring him as the best potential to move the State forward.

In a release from his base in Portland Oregon, Thompson Essien who insisted that he remains a member of the APC, however said that following the absence of his leader Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, he has no option than to throw his full weight and support behind Mr Udom Emmanuel.

According to him, “since Senator Udoedehe is no longer in the race, I have taken the risk by giving Mr. Udom Emmanuel the opportunity to prove his leadership, management, and political skills to the people of Akwa Ibom State.”

I hereby announce my endorsement and support for Mr. Udom Emmanuel for governor of Akwa Ibom State.

He maintained that his endorsement of Udom Emmanuel is from his unbiased assessment and personal conviction, and not as a result of any inducement.

“For the benefit of those who still believe that one cannot take a stand on issues of politics without financial inducements, let me state here that I have never met or spoken with Mr. Udom Emmanuel in any manner or form. No member of Udom's political campaign has ever made any contact with me to seek my support for Mr. Udom,” Thompson said.

The Nsit Ubium –born self acclaimed Voice of the Poor Masses declined to comment further on his decision to endorse Udom ahead of his kinsman and APC candidate, Mr Umana Umana.

In his words, “My decision to support Udom Emmanuel is entirely mine and mine only”, adding that, “in future, I may have the opportunity to explain why I am endorsing Udom Emmanuel, instead of Umana Okon Umana. For now, what I have stated on this page is all that the limitations on my time would permit me, Up Udom Emmanuel! Down Umana Okon Umana!!”
